DECTODOT Doramectin Injection

DECTODOT contains DORAMECTIN is a long acting injectable broad spectrum parasiticide for cattle, sheep, goats and swine. One low volume injection effectively controls a wide range of roundworms of cattle, sheep and pigs as well as arthropod parasites of cattle, sheep and pigs, which impair their health and productivity. Doramectin is isolated from fermentations of genetically altered strain of Streptomyces avermitilis. DECTODOT is a ready to use, pale yellow, sterile solution.

The primary mode of action for avermectins, the family of compounds to which DORAMECTIN belongs, is to modulate chloride ion channel activity in the nervous system of nematodes and arthropods. Avermectins bind to receptors that increase membrane permeability to chloride ions. This inhibits the electrical activity of nerve cells in nematodes and muscle cells in arthropods, and causes paralysis and death of the parasites. In mammals the neuronal receptors to which avermectins bind are localised with in the central nervous system. Since doramectin does not readily penetrate the mammalian CNS it has wide margin of safety in animals when used as recommended.

Cattle :

  • Gastro intestinal roundworms
  • Parafilaria
  • Screw-worms
  • Sucking lice
  • Mange mites
  • Single host ticks

 

Sheep & Goats :

  • Gastro intestinal roundworms
  • Parafilaria
  • Screw-worms
  • Sucking lice
  • Mange mites

Swine :

  • Roundworms (Ascaris suum, Oesophagostomum dentatum, Oesophagostomum quadrispinulatum and Trichuris suis)
  • Lung worms (Metastrongylus spp.)

DOSE & ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION :-

By I.M or S.C route only.

Cattle :
1 ml/ 50 Kg body weight

Sheep & Goats :
1 ml /50 Kg body weight 

Swine :
1 ml /33 Kg body weight 

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD :-
Milk : 7 days, Meat : 28 days

PRECAUTION :-
–> Sheep and goats should be vaccinated against pulpy kidney (enterotoxaemia) before treatment.
–> Vaccination of cattle, sheep and goats against broad spectrum Clostridium infections (e.g black quarter, malignant edema) is strongly recommended.
