A Steinmann pin is a thin metal rod used in orthopedic procedures to stabilize large bone fractures. Inserted manually with a T-handle, it’s placed about 2 cm posterior to the tibial tuberosity. A Denham pin, with a threaded center, is preferred for preventing side-to-side motion during fixation.
