- SPERMOSCOPE for semen Evaluation
- Spermoscope is a first of its kind of field instrument which is very handy and light weight. It is made to work under field conditions and for the estimation of sperm motility.
- In case of artificial insemination in livestock, many times the semen straws spoils due to bad handling or improper storage conditions and various other factors. Due to which the pregnancy rate and a lot of time and money of the farmer is wasted. To over come this short coming we have developed a new instrument for on site determination of semen quality under field conditions within seconds of insemination. It shows and confirm the motility of sperm in the semen used for AI hence increases the pregnancy rate to a great extent.
- It will also ensure livestock owner of good quality of semen dose.
SPECIFICATION :
- It has a fixed Magnification of 200 x
- Inbuilt all glass transparent biotherm stage equipped with inbuilt temp. controller to maintain stage temp. at (37°C ± 0.2°C) , with digital temp. display.
- Inbuilt Battery giving backup whole day once fully charged,
- Portable, light weight not more than 500gms., suitable for sperm motility evaluation in field condition,
- On account of its compact design and construction, the device can be carried in handbag by AI worker in his AI Kit.
PERFORMANCE :
- Prior to this design, there was no such equipment which can monitor the sperm motility at any remote and distant location at any time.
- Prior designed instruments cannot be carried everywhere, because non availability of electricity nearby and big size.
- Once fully charged should be able to work continuously for 5-6 hours.
Impact and benefits
- As per the annual report 2011-2012, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying & Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India) out of total 52 million AI are performed per year and only 35% conceives. The use of spermoscope will drastically improve the conception rate.
